Due to the ongoing Cyclospora outbreak, a full Ova and Parasite exam (OPE) is not available effective July 14, 2026. The Mid Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel (order code MIDGI) is the preferred diagnostic test if cyclospora infection is suspected. Alternatively, a Cyclospora (Cystoisoporiasis / Isosporiasis) Exam (order code OPC) is also appropriate for patients with a high suspicion of cyclosporiasis.

If the patient has a travel history outside of the country and a full Ova and Parasite Exam (order code OPE) is clinically indicated, clients should contact MLabs to arrange for special order for full OPE testing. Pending and incoming requests for OPE will be converted to OPC. If OPE is needed, please contact MLabs or note confirmation of international travel on the test requisition.
