Effective September 23, 2025, Mayo Clinic Laboratories will be changing their Hepatitis D Virus Total Antibodies, Serum (AHDV) test to include reflex molecular testing as indicated in a new algorithm. The test will begin with hepatitis D virus (HDV) total antibodies by enzyme immunoassay. If the result is equivocal or positive, then HDV RNA detection/quantification (Mayo test ID HDVQU) will be performed at an additional charge (CPT 87523).
