Mayo Clinic Laboratories will replace their Streptococcus pneumoniae IgG Antibody Panel, 23 Serotypes test ID PN23 with test ID PN23M performed by Microsphere Photometry, effective August 3, 2023.
This test is used for assessing the IgG antibody response to active immunization with nonconjugated, 23-valent pneumococcal vaccines or with conjugated 13-valent, 15-valent, and 20-valent pneumococcal vaccines and is the preferred test for patients previously tested for Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes as part of follow up testing or part of pre/post vaccine assessment.
Collection Instructions: Collect specimen in an SST (preferred) or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot 0.5 mL (minimum 0.4 mL) of serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate.
