Effective December 17, Mycoplasma hominis PCR (MYCOH) test will be sent to ARUP Laboratories temporarily due to the test being down at Mayo Medical Laboratories due to a reagent shortage.

 

Collection Instructions: Please send genital or rectal swab, or urine. Also acceptable: upper respiratory swabs, bronchoalveolar lavage, sputum, and tracheal aspirates. Transfer genital, rectal or respiratory swab, or 1 mL urine to viral transport media. If sending BAL, sputum, or tracheal aspirate: Transfer 1 mL to an empty sterile container. (Min: 0.5 mL). Ship the specimen frozen.

Methodology: Qualitative Polymerase Chain Reaction
