    Collect swab specimen of cervix, urethra, or vagina using dacron or rayon swab with an aluminum or plastic shaft; do not use swab with calcium alginate tip or wooden shaft. Place swab in sterile tube or container or in M5 transport. M4, M4RT, M5, M6 or universal transport media is acceptable.
    Body and respiratory fluids must be submitted in a sterile cup. Refrigerate

    1 swab or 10 mL urine, 1 - 2 mL fluid

    Rejection Criteria
    Do not use swabs with cotton tip or wooden shaft as the resin in the wood and cotton is toxic to these organisms. Aerobic Swab with Amies media is not acceptable.
