Detection of B12 deficiency as in pernicious anemia or neurologic disease or the elevation of B12 as seen in hepatic cell damage or myeloid leukemia.

Collect specimen in SST tube. Avoid hemolysis of specimen. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and freeze (preferred). Specimens may be stored refrigerated for up to 48 hours. Grossly hemolyzed samples are not acceptable for analysis.
