Chemiluminescent Immunoassay

Test Usage

Presence of hepatitis antibody indicates previous hepatitis B infection or vaccination. The performance of this assay has not been established with cord blood, neonatal specimens, cadaver specimens, heat-inactivated samples or body fluids other than serum.

Non-Reactive: < 10 mIU/mL (no immunization); Reactive: >=10 mIU/mL (immunization or previous hepatitis B infection).

Test Limitations

Specimen may be stored at room temperature up to 8 hours; specimen should be frozen if assay will not be completed within 72 hours of collection.

Specimen Requirements
Collection Instructions

Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. Specimens in primary collection tubes are stable 8 hours at room temperature and 1 day refrigerated. Post-vaccination samples should be collected 4-6 weeks from the date of vaccination.
