Test Usage

Specimens are screened for the presence of Hepatitis B surface antigen. Hepatitis B surface antigen is the first antigen to appear following an infection and can be detected serologically as an aid in the lab diagnosis of acute hepatitis infections. The performance of this assay has not been established with cord blood, neonatal specimens, cadaver specimens, heat-inactivated or body fluids other than serum.
