Chemiluminescent Immunoassay

Test Usage

Presence of hepatitis core antibody indicates previous hepatitis B infections. The performance of this assay has not been established with cord blood, neonatal specimens, cadaver specimens, heat inactivated samples or body fluids other than serum.

Test Limitations

Specimens may be stored at room temperature up to 8 hours; specimen should be frozen if assay will not be completed within 72 hours of collection.

    Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.

    Additional Information

    The Hepatitis B Core Antibody, IgM assay will be performed on all positive specimens at an additional charge. By ordering the test the clinical acknowledges that additional reflex testing will be performed and billed at a separate additional charge, if indicated.
