Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA)
Adjunct in the diagnosis of trichinosis. Results should be used in conjunction with clinical, epidemiologic, and other laboratory tests.
Negative (reported as positive or negative)
Antibodies to T. spiralis may not be detectable until 3 weeks after the onset of infection. A second specimen drawn 2-4 weeks after the first specimen is recommended in serologically negative patients with clinical symptoms of trichinosis.

- TRICHINELLA ANTIBODY, SERUM
Collect specimen in red top or SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and freeze.
Test sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories.
