Test Overview
Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (immunoenzymatic)
Useful to assess presence of residual papillary-follicular carcinoma, thyroid, following resection
Thyroglobulin: 0.0 - 35.0 ng/mL; Thyroglobulin Antibody: 0 - 3 IU/mL.
* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.
Not valid for medullary carcinoma of thyroid. High values of thyroglobulin are found in nodular goiter and normal levels are found in patients with small thyroid carcinomas. Therefore, this is not a screening test for thyroid cancer. There is interference in serums containing autoantibodies.
