Chemiluminescent Immunoassay (CLIA)

Test Usage

To automatically reflex LH (luteinizing hormone) testing when an adult male testosterone value is less than or equal to 3.00 ng/mL. No reflexive testing is performed if ordered on a female patient, or if adult male testosterone is >3.00 ng/mL.

Collection Instructions

Collect specimen in a red top or SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate up to 48 hours or freeze for longer storage.

Additional Information

Test includes Testosterone level. If the patient is male and the testosterone result is <= 3.00 ng/mL, a luteinizing hormone (LH) test is reflexively ordered and performed at an additional charge. By ordering this test the clinician acknowledges that additional reflex testing will be performed and billed at a separate additional charge if indicated.
