Test Overview
Test Methodology

Molecular Typing (SSO or qPCR)

Test Usage

At the UMHS Histocompatibility Laboratory potential transplant recipients are typed for HLA-A, B, C, DRB1,3,4,5, DQB1, DQA1, DPB1, and DPA1 loci by medium/low resolution molecular methods (Antigen level). When a potential related or unrelated living donor is considered for transplant, the HLA typing of the donor is performed to evaluate compatibility. Donors are typed for the same HLA loci as the recipient. The donor typing is used in conjunction with the antibody profile of the recipient and a virtual crossmatch is performed to assess compatibility.

HLA Typing is genetic typing, and the data will not change. Typing cannot be performed multiple times on the same patient or donor.
