    Collection

    Collect specimen in a red top tube; do not use SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and freeze. For maximum clinical significance, collect a Peak specimen within 15 minutes after the end of an I.V. infusion or 90 minutes after oral intake.

    Collection Instructions

    Collect blood in a red top tube. Spin and aliquot into a screw capped plastic tube. Freeze and send to Specimen Processing. Have ordering provider fully list: drug dose amount, frequency, method, and date and time of last dose prior to draw.

    Alternate Specimen

    Red top tube is preferred. Green top tube is acceptable.

    Normal Volume

    2 mL serum

    Minimum Volume

    0.5 mL serum

    Rejection Criteria
    SST tube not acceptable.
