Days Set Up
Test available by special request only; contact MLabs at least 24 hours in advance of specimen collection. Test set up Daily, 7 am - 3 pm.
Analytic Time
Quantitative results are reported in 48 hours. Negative cultures are reported after 48 hours.

Collection Instructions
Notify MLabs Client Services Center prior to specimen collection. Aseptically prepare aspiration site before collection. Layer fluid on top of solid media in anaerobic transport; DO NOT PUSH DOWN INTO MEDIUM.

Additional Information
Test is used to monitor overgrowth of microorganisms in the upper gastrointestinal tract. Test includes quantitative culture. Quantitative culture results are reported within the range of 100 - 1,000,000,000 organisms per mL of fluid.
