Test Overview
Test Methodology

Avoximeter- optical absorbance

Test Usage

Performed at authorized locations by point of care operators. Assessment of oxy-hemoglobin during cardiac catheterization, applying the results to shunt calculations and cardiac output determinations based on the Fick Principle.

Reference Range *

Analyte specific reference ranges are available in the Avoximeter test procedure located on the POC website: https://www.pathology.med.umich.edu/point-of-care.

* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.

Test Limitations

Do not disturb the instrument while test is in progress. Avoximeter result should be scrutinized in light of a specific patient condition. Any results exhibiting inconsistency with the patient's clinical status should be repeated or supplemented with additional test data.
