Piccolo Xpress Chemistry Analyzer- spectrophotometry

Test Usage

Performed at authorized locations by point of care operators. Aids in the diagnosis of a wide variety of physiological disorders, see the Piccolo Basic Metabolic and Comprehensive panel test procedure for analyte specific information. Analytes included: Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Total Carbon Dioxide, Glucose, Total Calcium, Urea Nitrogen (BUN), Creatinine, Alkaline Phosphatase, ALT, AST, Total Bilirubin, Albumin, Total Protein.

Analyte specific reference ranges are available in the Piccolo Basic Metabolic and Comprehensive Metabolic Panel test procedure located on the POC website: https://www.pathology.med.umich.edu/point-of-care.

* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.

Test Limitations

•Specimen must be collected in a lithium heparin tube/syringe.
•Specimens must be free of clots and fibrin.
•Samples that are grossly hemolyzed and/or lipemic should be tested via an alternative method.

Performed at the satellite phlebotomy areas at Northville Health Center, Brighton Center for Specialty Care, and West Ann Arbor Health Center during normal hours of operation.

Collect in lithium heparin syringe/tube.

Minimum Volume
1.5 mL whole blood
Rejection Criteria
•Specimens collected in any other anticoagulant other than lithium heparin.
•Clotted specimens.
• Specimens grossly hemolyzed and/or lipemic.
