Specimen Requirements
Collection Instructions

<ul><li>
Place body fluid in a lavender top (EDTA) tube or clean, leakproof container.
Collect random urine sample in a plastic urine cup or yellow top no additive urine Vacutainer® tube.
For optimal results, specimen should reach laboratory within 1 hour of collection.<li> If specimen must be stored, refrigeration is recommended.<li>Specimen must be received within 24 hours of collection.

Rejection Criteria
Specimens received in syringes, vacuum bottles or large containers will be rejected.
24 hour urine specimens or aliquots from a 24 hour collection will be rejected.
Specimens exceeding the storage criteria will be rejected.
CSF, serum, and sputum specimens are not acceptable.
