Collection Instructions
Place worm in sterile container. If using formalin please diluted to 2 - 5%. Note: Higher concentrations of formalin may cause Ascaris to rupture. If an unacceptable specimen is received, the client will be notified before disposal of the original specimen.

Additional Information
Organisms other than pathogenic worms may be passed by the patient if their food or water is contaminated with soil organisms. Non-pathogenic worms will not be identified. If pinworm (Enterobius vermicularis) is suspected, see Pinworm Preparation (PINW).
