Therapeutic Monitoring, Assessing Compliance
The proposed therapeutic range for control of seizures is 3.0 - 14.0 mcg/mL. Drug pharmacokinetics varies widely, being especially affected by decreased renal function and co-medications.
* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.
- LAMOTRIGINE LEVEL
Collect specimen in a red top tube; do not use SST tube. A lavender (EDTA) or green top (Heparin) tube is also acceptable. Centrifuge, aliquot serum or plasma into a plastic vial, and refrigerate.
Lamotrigine is an antiepileptic drug that has been shown to be effective as add-on therapy for patients with resistant partial seizures. The drug may also be effective in treating generalized tonic-clonic seizures, some cases of Lennox-Gestaut syndrome, and in children with multiple seizure types.
