Colorimetric Enzyme Assay
Lactic acid in CSF normally parallels blood levels. With alterations in the CNS, CSF lactic acid levels change independently of blood values. Unlike bacterial meningitis, viral meningitis lactic acid levels in CSF are not usually elevated.
