Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay (FEIA)

Test Usage

Evaluation of patients suspected of having hypersensitivity pneumonitis induced by exposure to Aspergillus fumigatus, Thermoactinomyces vulgaris, or Micropolyspora faeni.

Test Limitations

Antibodies may be found in a portion of the normal patient population. The presence of precipitins is not necessarily indicative of disease. Result should be correlated with clinical findings.

Collection

Collect specimen in a red top or SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and leave at ambient temperature

Ambient, refrigerated or frozen are acceptable.
