Update Type: Test Code Change
Test Updated: 05/08/2024
Test Overview
Test Methodology

Immunodiffusion and Complement Fixation (Mycelial and Yeast)

Test Usage

Establish presence of antibody to Histoplasma.

Reference Range *

Negative

* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.

Test Limitations

A recent skin test with histoplasma antigen gives a misleading rise in CF titer as well as an M precipitin band in approximately 17% of patients having previous exposure to Histoplasma capsulatum. Cross-reacting antibodies sometimes present interpretive problems in patients having blastomycosis or coccidiodomycosis.
