    Collection

    Draw EDTA tubes Mon-Thurs only until 4pm. If collecting off site, send with a stat driver no later than 3 pm.
    Cinci Children's does NOT accept Saturday delivery

    Collection Instructions

    Collect specimen in a EDTA purple top tube. Send entire sample to Specimen Processing refrigerated. Draw Monday-Thurs only, before 4pm. If collecting off site, send with a stat driver no later than 3 pm.
    (Streck tube can be used for either specimen type, which extends stability- keep at room temp)

    Special Handling

    If using an EDTA tube to collect, it must be received by Cinci <24 hours. Draw Monday-Thurs only, before 4pm. If collecting off site, send with a stat driver no later than 3 pm.

    Alternate Specimen
    FFPE: 1 H&E slide and 6 unstained slides cut at 5 microns thick. Or the entire block, if slides are not available.

    5 mL whole blood or bone marrow
    Minimum Volume
    3 mL whole blood or bone marrow
    Storage Temperature
    Refrigerated for blood and bone marrow
    Ambient for blocks, slides or blood/bone marrow in a Streck tube
    Rejection Criteria
    Frozen samples, sample collected in heparin, decalcified samples; blood or bone marrow in EDTA >24 hours old upon receipt in Cinci
