Determination of potential risk for coronary artery disease

Reference Range *

40 - 60 mg/dL. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) has set the following guidelines for serum HDL Cholesterol (ATP III Classification): Low <40 mg/dL; Normal 40 - 60 mg/dl; High >60 mg/dL (negative risk factor for CHD).

Collect specimen in an SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate.
