Test Usage

It is felt that fructosamine values reflect intermediate-term glycemic control. However, fasting blood glucose and hemoglobin A1C are the usual and preferred means of monitoring glycemic control.

Collect specimen in an SST. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate.

Alternate Specimen
Red top, Green top (lithium heparin) or Lavender top (EDTA) are acceptable.
Rejection Criteria
Hemolyzed samples are not acceptable.
