Test Overview
Test Methodology

Homogeneous Enzyme Immunoassay

Test Usage

Fentanyl screening by immunoassay may be performed to monitor compliance in patients with Fentanyl prescription (i.e., Actiq®, Duragesic®, and Sublimaze®), or to identify fentanyl exposure from unprescribed drugs. The immunoassay screen detects fentanyl, norfentanyl and select fentanyl analogs.

Reference Range *

Negative
Threshold cut off level: 1.0 ng/mL

* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.

Test Limitations

Positive immunoassay results should be considered presumptive. Presumptive positive results obtained by immunoassay can be confirmed by LC-MS/MS testing which can provide quantitative levels of fentanyl and norfentanyl (UFENL).
