    Collection Instructions

    Collect specimen in lavender tube. Send intact whole blood (unspun) at room temperature. Specimen must be received by Viracor within 96 hours of collection. Do not spin and freeze for extended stability- test would then be performed in house in Microbiology if it cannot be sent to Viracor within 96 hours.

    Alternate Specimen
    None- whole blood is the only option for this test.

    2 mL EDTA whole blood

    0.5 mL EDTA whole blood

    Storage Temperature
    Strict ambient- do not spin and freeze for longer stability- plasma EBV is performed in Michigan Medicine Microbiology lab.
