This gas chromatography screen of blood is a panel of tests designed to detect alcohol, benzodiazepines, barbiturates and a variety of other medications.

This assay does not routinely identify opiates, marijuana or cocaine. Urine is the preferred specimen for drugs of abuse testing.

    Collect blood in a red top tube (serum). Do not remove stopper from collection tube. Refrigerate and send intact specimen. SST is NOT an acceptable specimen.

    Note that Urine is the preferred specimen for screening purposes. If a serum screen is necessary due to specimen procurement problems, the Serum Drug Screen includes Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, and Volatiles (ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol).
