Test Overview
Kinetic Immunoassay (KIMS)
Detection of abused drugs: amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine metabolites, opiates, oxycodone, and fentanyl. Creatinine for specimen adulteration.
Negative
Threshold cut off levels: Amphetamines 1000 ng/mL; Barbiturates 200 ng/mL; Benzodiazepines 100 ng/mL; Cannabinoids 50 ng/mL; Cocaine metabolites 300 ng/mL; Opiates 300 ng/mL; Oxycodone 100 ng/mL; Fentanyl 1 ng/mL. Creatinine >20 mg/dL
* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.
1. Positive results by immunoassay should be considered
presumptive. Confirmation by an alternate method
may be requested by contacting the laboratory.
2. Rifampin can cause a false positive urine opiate
screen.
3. The presence of hydrocodone in a urine sample
can cause a false positive urine oxycodone screen.
4. Patients on Labetalol, Ranitidine (Zantac),
Trimethobenzamide or Trazodone can have a false
positive amphetamine screen due to
metabolites of these drugs having structural
similarity to amphetamine.
5. If the drug screen failed to report a specific
drug of interest, please contact the laboratory
for additional help.
