Test Overview
HPLC
Sometimes used in the differential diagnosis of hypercalcemia as urinary cyclic AMP excretion is generally elevated in primary hyperparathyroidism. Can also be useful as an adjunct to serum parathyroid hormone measurements, especially in the diagnosis of parathyroid hormone resistance states, such as pseudohypoparathyroidism.
1.3 - 3.7 nmol/dL of glomerular filtrate
* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.
Parathyroid suppression (hypoparathyroidism) does not lower urinary cyclic AMP excretion to definately subnormal values.
