Specimen Requirements
Collect specimen in a red top tube; do not use SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate within 2 hours of collection.
Must arrive in lab or aliquot and refrigerate within 2 hours. Red top tube only

Butalbital (Fiorinal) is a short to intermediate-acting barbiturate usually administered as a sedative, analgesic mixture with drugs such as acetominophen, aspirin, codeine, caffeine, etc. Toxic mainifestations can include respiratory depression, acidosis and hypoxia, hypothermia, hypotension, cardiac depression, shock, and coma.
