Collection Instructions

Collect blood in a red top or green top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum or plasma into a plastic vial and refrigerate.

Alternate Specimen
Serum or heparinized plasma preferred; other specimens can also be analyzed.

Additional Information

Butabarbital (Butisol) is an intermediate-acting barbiturate with sedative-hypnotic activity. Toxic mainifestations can include respiratory depression, acidosis and hypoxia, hypothermia, hypotension, cardiac depression, shock, and coma.
