ELISA
Support the clinical diagnosis of brucellosis. This test detects antibodies to Brucella species that commonly cause human disease: B. suis, B. melitensis, and B. abortus.
Negative (reported as positive, negative, or equivocal).

This test may not detect antibodies in patients infected with Brucella canis.

Specimen Requirements
Collect specimen in red top or SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate.
Additional Information
Specimens testing positive or equivocal for IgG and/or IgM will be tested for Brucella Antibody by direct agglutination (SBRBA) at an additional charge. By ordering this test the clinician acknowledges that additional reflex testing will be performed and billed at a separate additional charge if indicated. Test sent to Mayo Medical Laboratories.
