    Collection Instructions

    Collect both specimens, blood spot card and urine. The urine must be protected from light by wrapping the entire cup in foil or a paper towel. (Be sure to cover the bottom). Send blood spot card to Specimen Processing ambient, the urine must be frozen

    Special Handling

    Bloodspot card is to be kept ambient or refrigerated, urine must be frozen

    Alternate Specimen
    Blood may be collected in a green top (sodium heparin) tube
    Normal Volume
    5 spots on card, and 10 mL urine
    Minimum Volume
    3 spots on card, and 5 mL urine
    Storage Temperature
    Blood spot card (or green top tube) to be kept ambient or refrigerated; Urine must be frozen PFL
    Rejection Criteria
    Bloodspot card was frozen, or urine was not PFL
