Colorimetric (Vanadate Oxidation)

Test Usage

Liver function test useful in the diagnosis of jaundice due to liver disease, hemolytic anemia, and ABO/Rh incompatability.

Reference Range *

1-11 years: 0.2 - 1.0 mg/dL; 12-150 years: 0.2 - 1.2 mg/dL. 0-1 month: Critical Value >=15 mg/dL.

Specimen Requirements
Collection Instructions

Collect specimen in an SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate. Protect specimen from light (place in brown plastic bag or aliquot into brown tube). Fractionated Bilirubin (BILIFRAC) instead of Total Bilirubin (TBIL) is recommended for neonates <14 days old.
