Test Overview
Test Methodology

Fluorescence Enzyme Immunoassay (FEIA)

Test Usage

Evaluating patients suspected of having lung disease caused by Aspergillus fumigatus.

Reference Range *

Age <4 yrs: not established; age >=4 yrs: < or = 102 mg/L.

* Reference ranges may change over time. Please refer to the original patient report when evaluating results.

Test Limitations

IgG antibodies to Aspergillus fumigatus are detectable in sera from healthy individuals, and the presence of antibodies is not sufficient to establish the diagnosis of aspergillosis. The levels of antibodies often decrease following successful treatment; but elevated levels may persist for long periods. The measurement of IgG antibodies to Aspergillus fumigatus should not be relied upon exclusively to establish the diagnosis of aspergillosis.
