Specimen Requirements
Collect specimen in SST tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into plastic vial and refrigerate; do not freeze. Test should not be ordered following administration of radioisotopes. Avoid hemolysis during collection.
1 mL serum
0.5 mL serum
Additional Information
Freezing of specimen may cause formation of immune complexes, turbidity, or falsely elevated results. Hemolysis (serum free hemoglobin >150 mg/dL) and bilirubin levels >14 mg/dL will interfere with assay results.
