Test Usage

Peanut allergen component tests are utilized for a more detailed assessment of patients with a suspected peanut allergy. Sensitization to certain peanut components is strongly associated with risk of a systemic peanut reaction.

Collection

Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.

The Peanut Component Panel includes Peanut IgE (PNUT), ara H 1 Peanut, IgE (H1PN), ara H 2 Peanut, IgE (H2PN), ara H 3 Peanut, IgE (H3PN), and ara H 8 PR10 Peanut, IgE (H8PN). Each of these components may also be ordered individually.
