Test Usage

Hazelnut Allergen Component tests are utilized for a more detailed assessment of patients with a suspected hazelnut allergy. Sensitization to certain hazelnut components is strongly associated with risk of a systemic hazelnut reaction.

    Collection Instructions

    Collect specimen in an SST or red top tube. Centrifuge, aliquot serum into a plastic vial and refrigerate for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.

    Red top tube; Plasma: EDTA, lithium heparin or sodium heparin

    1.5 mL serum

    The Hazelnut Component Panel includes Hazelnut IgE (HNUT), rCor A 1 pr-10 Hazelnut, IgE (A1HN), rCor a 8 LTP Hazelnut, IgE (A8HN), nCor a 9 Hazelnut, IgE (A9HN) and rCor a 14 Hazelnut, IgE (A14HN). Each of these components may also be ordered individually.
