Detection or quantitation of Adenovirus. Used for monitoring of viral load to track the course of infection and response to treatment. Test detects all 52 serotypes.

    Collect urine in a sterile cup. Send to Specimen Processing intact, or aliquot into a screw capped plastic tube, room temperature

    Rejection Criteria
    Wood shafted swab, calcium alginate swab, or romm temperature specimens greater than 96 hrs old are not acceptable. Formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tissue is not acceptable.
    Additional Information

    Adenoviruses are increasingly recognized as viral pathogens that can cause significant morbidity and mortality, especially in the immunocompromised patient. Mortality rates have been reported to be as high as 60% for pneumonia, 50% for hepatitis and 25% overall. Test sent to Viracor Eurofins.
