Specimen Requirements
Collection Instructions
Collect specimen in a lavender top (EDTA) tube. Spin and aliquot into a screw capped plastic tube. Send to Specimen Processing at room temperature.

Adenoviruses are increasingly recognized as viral pathogens that can cause significant morbidity and mortality, especially in the immunocompromised patient. Mortality rates have been reported to be as high as 60% for pneumonia, 50% for hepatitis and 25% overall. Test sent to Viracor Eurofins.
