Detection or quantitation of Adenovirus. Used for monitoring of viral load to track the course of infection and response to treatment. Test detects all 52 serotypes.

    Collection Instructions

    Collect specimen in a lavender top (EDTA) tube. Spin and aliquot into a screw capped plastic tube. Send to Specimen Processing at room temperature. If specimen will not be received by Viracor within 96 hours, it should be frozen for shipment.

    Additional Information

    Adenoviruses are increasingly recognized as viral pathogens that can cause significant morbidity and mortality, especially in the immunocompromised patient. Mortality rates have been reported to be as high as 60% for pneumonia, 50% for hepatitis and 25% overall. Test sent to Viracor Eurofins.
