The following changes will be made to the Encephalopathy Autoimmune Evaluation, Serum, assay performed by Mayo Clinic Laboratories effective October 13, 2026:

 

The following tests will be added to the panel:

  • Adenylate Kinase 5 (AK5) IgG, Tissue Immunofluorescence, Serum (AK5IS)
  • Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor-5 (mGluR5) IgG, Tissue Immunofluorescence, Serum (GL5IS)
  • Kelch-Like Protein 11 Antibody, Cell Binding Assay, Serum (KLHCS)
  • Gamma-Amino Butyric Acid Type A (GABA-A) Receptor Antibody, Cell-Binding Assay, Serum (GBACS)
  • Ma2 Antibody, ELISA, Serum (MA2ES)

 

The following tests will be removed from the panel:

  • Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Alpha Subunit Antibody, Immunofluorescence, Serum (GFAIS)
  • Neuronal Intermediate Filament IgG, Immunofluorescence, Serum (NIFIS)

 

The following tests will be added to the reflex algorithm:

  • Adenylate Kinase 5 (AK5) IgG, Cell Based Assay, Serum (AK5CS) 
  • Adenylate Kinase 5 (AK5) IgG, Tissue Immunofluorescence Titer, Serum (AK5TS)
  • Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor-5 (mGluR5) IgG, Cell Based Assay, Serum (GL5CS)
  • Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor-5 (mGluR5) IgG, Tissue Immunofluorescence Titer, Serum (GL5TS)
