The 1p/19q Deletion by FISH assay will be discontinued effective September 30, 2026.
To assess for 1p/19q co-deletion, Cytogenetics, Chromosomal Microarray Analysis, FFPE tissue (order code CGAPT) (https://handbook.med.umich.edu/details/test/5753) is recommended. Multiple studies have shown that 1p/19q assessment by FISH can be inaccurate due to partial 1p and/or 19q deletions affecting the region targeted by FISH probes (rather than whole are arm deletion) [PMID: 29600313, 35233774]. Chromosome Microarray Analysis provides a whole genome assessment of copy number variants and can accurately distinguish whole arm deletions from partial deletions. Chromosome Microarray will also assess for other copy number variants relevant in CNS tumors including +7/-10, EGFR amplification, and CDN2A/B deletion.
