Due to logistical considerations, effective March 31, 2026, Michigan Medicine Laboratories Chemistry Core lab will be updating the group test for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin (A1AT). The current A1AT group test code (which includes both A1A (Alpha-1-antitrypsin) and CRP (C-Reactive Protein)) will be modified and will no longer be orderable. The Alpha-1-antitrypsin test (code A1A) will be available for ordering independently, and the CRP test will continue to be orderable separately.
If clinically necessary, C-Reactive Protein (CRP) testing can be requested independently to assist in interpreting A1AT results. All testing methods, collection instructions, LOINC codes, and billing procedures will remain unchanged.
