Effective March 25, 2026, Michigan Medicine Laboratories Chemistry Lab will change the ferritin cutoffs used to diagnose iron deficiency. This change aligns with the American Society of Hematology (ASH) guidelines. Ferritin levels can be elevated in several conditions and a higher cut-off for iron deficiency may be considered in certain populations.
