NEW TESTS
Mayo Clinic Laboratories test ID FIN1B Interleukin-1 Beta referred to Inter Science Institute (order code MMLR) was discontinued effective March 13, 2025, due to availability of Mayo’s IL1B assay effective February 13, 2025. This test is used for evaluating patients experiencing inflammatory conditions, autoinflammatory disorders, and infection.
New order codes will be available for Interleukin-1 Beta for Plasma and Serum specimens effective May 27, 2025.

Collection Instructions: Collect specimen in a lavender top (EDTA) tube. Place specimen on wet ice immediately following collection. Centrifuge at 4 degrees C, 1500 x g for 10 minutes, aliquot 0.5 mL (minimum 0.3 mL) of plasma into a plastic vial, and freeze within 2 hours of collection. Plasma for this test requires a dedicated sample and cannot be shared for other tests.
Reference Range: <18 years: not established. > or = 18 years: <20.0 pg/mL.
