The MLabs Microbiology Laboratory will begin offering Cytomegalovirus (CMV) by PCR for neonates effective May 29, 2024. This test replaces Congenital CMV by PCR Saliva (order code CCMVS) and Congenital CMV by PCR Urine (order code CCMVU) sent to Mayo Clinic Laboratories.
This test is intended for the detection of CMV from saliva swabs and urine from infants less than 21 days of age and should be used in conjunction with the results of other clinical findings as an aid in the diagnosis of congenital
