The effective date for update of the Lead, Blood order code from LEADW to WLEAD has been moved from May 14, 2024 to May 21, 2024.
The order code for the Lead, Blood assay performed by the MLabs Toxicology Laboratory will be updated from LEADW to WLEAD effective May 21, 2024. The reason for this change is to align reporting with a state mandate that necessitates the declaration of the specimen’s origin (e.g., venous vs capillary). The revised order code will include two components: LEADW for the lead level result and SRCE for the specimen source. There will be no changes to specimen collection and handling, reference ranges, or billing.
