EXTREME COLD WEATHER: SPECIMEN LOCKBOX USE

 

During recent cold weather, MLabs received several specimens that should be stored and transported at ambient or refrigerated temperature arriving frozen or semi-frozen. 

 

If your office uses an outdoor lockbox in extremely cold weather, it is important to insulate specimens against the freezing temperatures.  Please wrap specimens in towels, newspaper, or other wrap for protection.

 

We recommend that the lockbox be placed in a location that is not subject or exposed to extreme cold.  If possible, keep the lockbox inside until closing for the day and only place specimens in the box at the last possible moment.

 

If you prefer not to use an outdoor lockbox, please call MLabs Client Service (800-862-7284) as early as possible to arrange for a courier pick-up while your office is still open.
